We are pleased to share a comprehensive update on the continued progress at Portside Place. Over the past six months, significant strides have been made during the design phase, working closely with our consultants, planners, and technical teams to ensure that every detail of the development reflects the high-quality vision we’ve set out to achieve. From architectural refinements to structural considerations, we’ve taken a proactive approach to value engineering, buildability, and long-term operational efficiency.
This collaborative effort is now transitioning into physical progress onsite. We are delighted to confirm that enabling works have commenced, with Melbrooke Construction, one of our trusted supply chain partners. They have been appointed to deliver these essential early-stage activities. Their work marks a pivotal step in preparing the site for full-scale construction.
Initial tasks have included the erection of hoarding around the perimeter of the site to ensure safety and security, as well as the mobilisation of welfare facilities and the establishment of the site compound. These elements are vital for creating a safe and efficient environment as we move into the next phases of the build.
Critical groundworks have also been undertaken, including the excavation of trial holes and a comprehensive site investigation. These exploratory works were carried out to determine the composition and depth of the sandstone strata present onsite. The findings will directly influence the finalised foundation design for both residential blocks, helping us to de-risk the build and ensure structural integrity from the outset.
Meanwhile, our technical team is working in tandem with our appointed utility contractor to identify the most strategic and cost-effective location for the site substation. This will play a crucial role in providing long-term power capacity for the development and represents another step toward full site activation.
These early stages may not always be visible to the wider public, but they are essential to the success of any high-quality development. Every decision being made today lays the groundwork for the homes and spaces we will deliver tomorrow.
